Spending as much time as you can in water during these hot summer months can be tempting, but chlorine and salt can have damaging effects on your hair. To keep your hair in great shape this summer, check out these tips.
1. Wear a cap. While it isn’t super stylish, if you are in the pool for athletic purposes a cap is definitely key.
2. Wet your hair before swimming. Wetting your hair with tap water can be very beneficial prior to hopping into the pool. Wet hair soaks up fewer chemicals than dry hair. You can also add a leave in conditioner to your wet hair to create a greater barrier.
3. Secure your hair. Hair left loose can easily become tangled while swimming. To avoid breakage, tie up your hair in a pony tail or with bobby pins to ensure easier combing.
These are just a few basic tips on how to protect your hair while swimming. These days they should come in very handy.
